Wedding on a day when it rained all day

It was a very strange day to photograph a wedding. Everything could go wrong for me. First, the wedding photographer was completely excited about the coming day. Everything in the program was a real delicacy for someone who loves those things differently from the usual ones. The bride and groom with prepare in the same place, bride will go by subway to Cais do Sodré. Real João? But that is wonderful. I did nothing like that.

The mind of the wedding photographer just burns with anticipation when he arrives at João´s house, after he is ready, took him, in secrecy, where Helena is at the hairdresser and make-up and, after, comes back with her to finish her preparation.

The strangeness of the day was not on the things I described above. And only strange to a photographer used to the always good Portuguese weather. It was raining all day. It was not the rain that wet you suddenly but that one that does not make you run from it,  just when it does when it rains too wet. On another side, this rain that is not wet, suddenly, brings with her that soft light without background because she hides what is there.

Photos of a bride walking through Lisbon

But I see now that was all a big gift given to me. The bride travels to Lisbon by subway, From Chelas do Cais do Sodré, joining the groom and all family and friends, and, again, travels by boat to the other side of the river. By Cacilheiro to Cacilhas, and in Cacilhas join everybody for a walk boarded by hardware stores and river, our beloved Tagus, which time to time send us some water splash as loving hands may be thinking that we all need some of that love and we had full because it is a wedding day, and for water, we always had the rain.

And with that rain that never stopped we arrived at Ponto Final, the place of the ceremony the rain, jealous of the river, did not let, as it was programmed, the ceremony celebration at the deck into Tagus river as a ship prepared for a big and beautiful journey.

A grateful wedding photographer

At the end of the day, with a light that lets us see inside that rain which has not stopped raining, we went by boat to Alcantara, because I went to give notice of the day until its ends, even if boats in rivers with big waves and rain that does not stop raining are not the most comfortable places for me even to chase my beloved photographies.

Because Helena, who came from Germany where those things of the rain that wet very slowly does not matter, and João, the travels they did, the not stopped rain, the boat riding the waves and all that people do not care about the rain I had all the best to do my photographies at this destination wedding, which I live for. Thank you very much to all.
