The Team, Ready for the Wedding
Everything is almost ready for the game—sorry, for the wedding ceremony is about to take place soon. The guys are practically ready, probably all fans of the game, and what better way to mark that than with a photo of the team—sorry, the group.
One thing I enjoy while doing my job is letting things flow, not giving those kinds of cues that might turn a real story into a scripted film—even if improvised. That’s why I never bother, in my role as a wedding photographer, to give out those instructions. And no, it’s not laziness because it doesn’t make the job any easier. It’s just how it is—to show that’s how it was.
Good Wedding Photograph
That’s how, suddenly, it wasn’t just about catching a bit of sunshine before jackets gave the final polish—it became a lineup of the Northern European lads, and the wedding photographer takes advantage, as is his duty. It feels good when it’s them, or her, or him, saying “Hey, look here, all of us together—don’t you think that’d make a great photo? We want it.” And so does the wedding photographer.
Point by point:
- After the groom, his baby, and his friends are ready to go to the wedding ceremony, there’s nothing like a group photo to hold onto.
- As if they almost formed a football team, that’s how the wedding photographer sees them preserved for posterity.
- My method for covering a wedding day is always based on letting events unfold without my intervention:
- Improvisation in capturing, as a reaction to the freedom of the moment
- The truth of the moment, in the creativity of the photos
- Almost without the wedding photographer even noticing, they all line up like a team before a match begins—and the photo is taken.
You need to know:
- Since I began photographing weddings, I’ve found the best approach is non-interference. Let moments flow, wherever we are in the day, and let the photographer find the means and the ways to capture the images that will tell the story. That’s how we’ll know how it was, where it was, and who was there.
That’s how I’ll photograph your wedding. Everyone does their part: the couple gets married, the guests applaud, and the photographer photographs. Book a meeting to see how I do it and to clear up any questions you might have.
- In Club Nau in Ferragudo, Algarve.
