Translating into wedding photos
The solemnity of a wedding ceremony, whether under a colorful arch on a farm or in front of an altar in a church, is what gives us the perception that things are serious. It’s a subject where the weight of the institution, the state, or the church, manifests itself in many ways and which the wedding photographer can’t help but notice and try to translate into the wedding photographs he collects.
From the entrance to the ceremonial table, the way the bride and groom walk among their guests, the nervous tension on the faces of the main characters, the seriousness of the moment when the wedding rings are exchanged, listening to the homily of an inspired priest or a conservator at the registry office who is zealous in his or her work, all of this creates an atmosphere that will be evident in the wedding photographs and that those who take them will try to be as faithful as possible while still giving them a makeover that suits their imagination.
The solemn moment
The time before the big event, when everyone is preparing for it, is also full of opportunities for the wedding photographer to be timely in his cropping and daring in his creativity. But it’s a different atmosphere, one that mixes ease and informality in the time that remains and anxiety about the time that is no longer enough, because that solemn moment is getting closer and closer.
The euphoria of the rice berries offering the photos
Then, well, the energy is released. The runner who euphorically throws bags of rice and flower petals at the bride and groom still can’t believe it’s over, it’s over, we’re already married. That’s it, everyone come and congratulate us, come and kiss us and hug us, come and wish us all the best wishes forever, come and let the comedians tell their jokes, which aren’t always funny, and let’s all go off in euphoric celebration to the place of… celebration. Well-deserved.
