Let It Snow, for the Wedding Photographer’s Portfolio

With an early wish for snow from Patrícia and Ricardo during their visit and a preemptive fear of frostbite, this brave wedding photographer prepares for another journey to the valley of the world’s tastiest cherries.

Well, snow would be beautiful to photograph, but snow is very cold, and cold isn’t good for those being photographed. But even if the polyhedral flakes don’t cover the slopes of the Serra, the cold is certainly there, and since it’s cold, let it snow—it will be beautiful to see and good for the photographer’s portfolio.

A Well-Spent Wedding Day

Just as I don’t like to visit the places where I’ll be photographing to avoid anticipating and doing it inside my delirious little head that thinks it’s a camera, before the actual cameras do it, and then everything turns out differently on-site, the end of the year, which, as you know, ends in late December, didn’t bring cold or snow to the Covilhã area, and I didn’t get frostbite.

However, I enjoyed meeting Ricardo’s family and revisiting Patrícia’s welcoming family because Patrícia is Paula’s sister, and Paula and Vítor have already been featured on the blog for a well-spent day and also said “yes” in the same blue-ceilinged church.

A Staging for the Wedding Photographer

We entered the photography-designed Quinta da Hera after the ceremony, and the entire family and friends knew how to enjoy the fantastic air of the Serra da Estrela, celebrating as those born and raised by the seasoning of heat and cold, which this Cova da Beira demands, know how to do.

Within the almost musical and soothing whisper of the wind and the canopies of centenarian trees, Patrícia and Ricardo, sometimes with pleasure, other times with patience, shaped a staging for me that resulted in the following photographs. By the beginning of the night, Ricardo, with great talents as a crooner, presenter, and good mood manager, revealed himself and proved that the party is for us.

An Unforgettable Wedding Day at the Igreja Matriz do Fundão

Patrícia and Ricardo’s wedding day began at the imposing Igreja Matriz do Fundão, also known as the Church of São Martinho. This temple, rebuilt in 1707 over an ancient Romanesque structure, stands out for its Mannerist and Baroque architecture. The façade is marked by two bell towers and a perfect arch portal, topped by a broken pediment with volutes. Inside, the main altar in gilded woodwork and the chancel decorated with blue and white tiles create a solemn and welcoming atmosphere.

The wedding ceremony was filled with moments of great emotion, as the bride and groom exchanged vows before their wedding guests. The wedding photographs captured the beauty of the location and the happiness of the couple, resulting in memories that will last forever.

This event space is renowned for its privileged location, offering stunning views over the city and the Serra da Estrela. The Quinta combines rustic charm with modernity, providing a sophisticated and welcoming environment for memorable celebrations.

The party took place in a lively and warm atmosphere, with all the wedding guests enjoying the hospitality and services offered by Quinta da Hera.
