The hug party when the wedding ceremony is over

I usually call it the hugs party. When, for the first time, as a wedding photographer, I left the door of a Church, I remember well that it was the Church of S. Pedro de Penaferrim in Sintra, after the wedding ceremony. I found, as soon as the flower petals flew towards the bride and groom, like flocks of doves flying on a day of peace celebration, and nothing better than a wedding for that.
The rice turns into drops of rain that, instead of wetting, wishes that the relationship never lacks the nourishment it needs along its path. Suddenly, I come across a sea of embraces, as if they were waves of a spring sea, rough but pleasant, calling for diving and playing among them, the waves.
A whirlwind of emotions in the photos

I will never forget the feeling I felt when I entered that sea and, like one of those photographers who love to photograph what goes underneath, the waves, I started to see the photographs that were there incessantly in the sincere and congratulatory embraces that everyone wanted to offer to the bride and groom.
Perhaps this is the most intense and most delivered chapter of the wedding day. After the restraint of the ceremony, the silence that is imposed in the church, and the expectation of the moment of the “yes”, a whole whirlwind of emotion explodes as if the light of the day were an energy full of love and hunger for sharing, congratulation, and great hopes, as are those that are kept on a wedding day.
Now, a wedding photographer, on a starting day as such, couldn’t be more amazed, by that curious amazement of the philosophers that leads one to want more, to know more, and, even though the beginner’s lack of skill has limited him in harvesting, he didn’t fail to take advantage of them, to the embraces, in every way he knew how.
Hugs and love at weddings

The harvest was of such abundance and quality that, from then on, there was never another wedding where the photographer didn’t feel a kind of frenzy as soon as the end of the wedding ceremony approached.
He knows that they, the hugs, were going to go from neck to neck, some tighter, others longer, some get wet with a few tears drops but, all of them, without exception, are true and say what they mean, as all the wedding photos that, from the first one, I never tire of finding and bringing with me. It is, as proven in the wedding photos, the one part of the wedding day where everyone, without exception, tells the bride and groom in the form of a hug that they love them.
And that can never cease to be a prime subject of the wedding photographer. Believe me.

Dot by dot:
- At the end of the wedding ceremony, and already outside the church, everyone wants to hug the bride and groom to wish them all the best.
- These moments are undoubtedly the most intense and emotional for the bride and groom, who are now married, during the entire wedding day.
- They are, also, for the wedding photographer, a strong reason to take advantage of them to bring back with him the most emotional photographs he can capture.
