The photographer and the fantasies in the wedding

IMAGINE by THE PORTUGAL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

In front of an old car, the couple, already married, talk, looking at their hands where they have their wedding rings, fresh, viewed by the wedding photographer in Casa de Reguengos, Portugal.

There is one side of some of my sides of wedding photographers that I can not resist and try, even in an awkward way, that some of the photos, picked up from the wedding day, look like those ones on the movie posters that we used to see in the movie theaters.

Assuming that some of those photos were caught from frames of those movies, it would be a vanity that I would not want by humility, not because of a lack of vanity. I am not perfect. But, sometimes, it seems so.

The thing is so perfect that instead of being in a wedding, from the couple that wanted me there, I am in a movie plateau where the film is in process and, if not the director, I am the camera operator who must know exactly what must be done for the satisfaction of the famous director.

I know, fantasies, but what can I do?

On top of that, I have the fantasy of the classics of the 30s and 40s of the XX century where the care with detail with composition was a state of the art, that always leaves me ecstatic.

I may, today, not care about the story, but the perfection that those film photographers reached to deliver to us the intentions of the director, the involvement of the characters, or the transformation of the light used, to reach our eyes, always let me amazed and, as a wedding photographer I can not let me desire to achieve that perfection, with my own way and limitations to do it.

Even, if I will never achieve that, it is a model that drives me through my work.

So, always with the illusion that put me close to those states of perfection, I take advantage because it is in front of me for that scene, directed by the cosmos and with actors that are on the plateau for my own use.

That sensation of coming back to a time that is no time anymore is very appealing to me and, with the choice of the best lens, here I am reading that small scene of this love story that, best of all, is true. Dressing the real with fantasy without the truth being distorted is something that I must take advantage of every time I find it in front of me and encourages me to always wanting come back, and the next one is more perfect than today.

That is what this wedding photographer never stopped trying since he stayed in this very special universe where love, truth, and fantasy are hands in hand. At least, it is like how I see it.

The groom kisses the bride's hand, next to an old car, in the garden of Casa de Reguengos where the wedding party takes place.
As in an old movie, the bride and groom laugh facing each other and holding hands, leaning against a vintage car, from the time of these films.
