THE WEATHER AND THE WEDDING by THE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
The photos are of the wedding with the ceremony at the Church of Santa Maria da Devesa in Castelo de Vide
The first day of summer and the wedding
Seasons, weather, and the calendar do not always harmonize well. More than once, when my photographic cameras go to fulfill her destiny on the wedding day, the weather is not what we expected when, sometime before, was decided on the day of the ceremony.
This is a simple way to tell that the expected sunshine all day, for the wedding of Inês and João, may not happen, and they say that a wet wedding is a blessing wedding was not the expected mood for the day. And…it was, at least for the first task of the day.
To reaffirm the importance of the last paragraph we must say that this wedding day was the day to celebrate…the first summer day. But, and I am sure of that, the winds and clouds must become aware of what was prepared, and talked to each other about and since the bride becomes a bride, the bride is a bride after the dress dressed, the Summer appeared still with hands with Spring and everything was as it should.
It’s enough to be a wedding photographer
Photographing weddings has this adventure side and challenge which, maybe, does not seem at first thought. But is a proven truth. Everything flows with such hallucinating speed, with car races for the first place in the ceremony spot, sometimes like in the American movies, with GPSs giving us the wrong address, parking places sealing the church and making us run like finalists of an Olympic race to the presence of the priest asking for a moment to breathe before the here comes the bride.
That is pure truth. But it is also true that all that challenge gives the result, the photos, more gratifying. It is no need to walk around the world, to be athletic or car champion, climb mountains or downhill with skates on our feet to feel the taste and energy of adrenaline. Just be a wedding photographer.
