A delight for the eyes

Groom being helped to dress by a friend.

Quinta das Riscas is an oasis at the gateway to the Alentejo, near Montijo, and was the venue chosen by Cátia and Luís to celebrate their wedding. Travelling the road towards Pegões and arriving at the Quinta is, in itself, a delight for the eyes. The Alentejo begins there and stretches out along the road, under the shade of round holm oaks, like giant parasols that both protect and inspire.

Quinta das Riscas appears out of nowhere, surrounded by vineyards still green, but already with copper tones, immediately prompting the photographer to think: I must come back here with the couple at sunset. And so I did. The copper-orange light was delivered. I did what I had to do: I made the most of it.

A photograph of a magnificent wedding day

The day was graced with an autumn blue sky and mild temperatures — ideal conditions for the “I do” to shine brightly in front of the magnificent palm trees. Any wedding photographer in this setting feels inspired to create images that reflect such a magnificent day.

Once again, it was a privilege to be there. The photos flowed freely, just like the feelings of the guests and the couple.

Quinta das Riscas, located in Santo Isidro de Pegões (Montijo), emerges as a true Alentejo oasis just a few kilometres from Lisbon — around 20 km from the Vasco da Gama Bridge. Travelling along the EN 251 road towards Pegões is like entering an idyllic setting, shaded by holm oaks and cork trees, until reaching the deep green vineyards that surround the estate. For a wedding photographer, it’s a naturally charming stage — perfect for capturing magical moments between the bride, groom, and guests.

• Perfect set-up for outdoor wedding photographs, with golden sunset light
• Glorious scenery with vineyards and holm oaks, evoking the Alentejo spirit
• Easily accessible via the panoramic EN 251 road from Montijo to the Alentejo
