The bride’s glow and happiness

Quinta dos Gafanhotos in S. Domingos de Rana, Cascais, was the place chosen by Ana and Rui to celebrate their wedding day.

Shortly before that, it was the Church of Santo António do Estoril that welcomed the couple for the religious celebration of the wedding. The couple looked radiant. Ana wore a stunning wedding dress by Joana Montez and Patrícia de Melo, and she radiated a glow and happiness. The ceremony took place in a heartfelt and intimate family atmosphere.

Wedding celebration until dawn

We took advantage of the Casino garden, using the beautiful afternoon light to photograph the happy couple, capturing forever their joy and elegance. For the wedding photographer, this light allows us to draw couples in photography, always beautifully dressed, on this special day.

Back at Quinta dos Gafanhotos, the reunion with family and friends was celebrated with a lively party that went on until dawn. Thank you, and blessings to all.

An unforgettable ceremony at the Church of Santo António do Estoril

Detail of an artifact of the bride.

The Church of Santo António do Estoril, also known as the Parish Church of Estoril, dates back to the 16th century. Built by the Order of St. Francis between 1527 and 1530 over an old chapel dedicated to São Roque, the church has undergone several reconstructions over the centuries: after the 1755 earthquake, more work was done in the 18th century, and it was almost destroyed by a fire in 1927. It was then restored by Tertuliano Marques, preserving the original design and receiving frescos by Carlos Bonvalot, as well as tiles by Victória Pereira.

On Ana and Rui’s wedding day, the ceremony took place in this setting full of history and meaning, perfect for moments of great emotion and authenticity:

  • Historical and spiritual ambiance, deeply felt by the bride and groom and all the wedding guests
  • Striking architecture, with a single central nave, three altars, and artistic details creating an atmosphere of lightness and solemnity
  • Natural and enchanting light, perfect for the wedding photographer to capture smiles, knowing glances, and the bride’s glow

Ana dazzled in a wedding dress by Joana Montez and Patrícia de Melo, radiating “glow and happiness.” It was an intimate, family-filled, and emotional moment — ideal for wedding photographs that capture every expression of love, tenderness, and celebration.

  • Centuries-old history and reconstruction of the church
  • Intimate atmosphere reflected in wedding photographs
  • Emotional involvement of the couple, bride, and groom during the ceremony

After leaving the church, we took advantage of the magnificent afternoon light in the Casino Estoril gardens to create a truly magical portrait session. This transition between ceremony and reception was planned to make the most of the natural conditions:

  • Golden hour: the soft, diffused light adds a special glow to the wedding photos, highlighting the couple’s elegance
  • A green urban environment that combines architectural elements of the casino with leafy surroundings, ideal for spontaneous portraits
  • Proximity to the church, perfect for a smooth transition between the ceremony and the photoshoot, maintaining the natural flow of the day

For any wedding photographer, capturing a couple in this unique light means delicately drawing their outline, enhancing the elegance of their attire, and recording genuine joy. With Ana and Rui, it was no exception: the result was a series of light, delicate, and emotionally rich photographs.

  • Photo session between the church and the casino
  • Use of golden hour for couple portraits
  • Spontaneous capture of the bride, groom, and wedding guests

Lively party until dawn at Quinta dos Gafanhotos

The celebration continued at Quinta dos Gafanhotos, in São Domingos de Rana, one of the historic estates in the municipality of Cascais. The location is referenced in documents from the 17th and 18th centuries as “Lugar de Gafanhotos” and has been adapted over time for prestigious events.

This venue offers:

  • Refined indoor spaces, with charming historic rooms, a bridal preparation room, and several cocktail areas
  • Landscaped outdoor areas – perfect for reception and mingling, with a pool and outdoor dance floor
  • Full catering service, with in-house kitchen, customisable menus (including vegetarian, vegan, coeliac options) and open bar
  • Capacity for 70 to 350 guests, parking, accessibility, musical entertainment, and tasting experiences

The party, marked by the reunion of family and friends, took place in a joyful and spontaneous atmosphere until the early hours of the morning:

  • Emotional moments: grand entrances by the bride and groom, speeches, cake cutting, and first dances
  • Active participation of wedding guests, with music, dancing, and shared joy
  • Photographic record of generational bonds, friendships, and moments of pure happiness

The praise speaks for itself: an “elegant and welcoming” setting, with “impeccable catering” and “professionalism of the team,” where “all guests were delighted.” As a wedding photographer, this kind of contagious energy allows for the capture of spontaneous and genuine images, exactly what makes an album unforgettable.

  • Historic venue with both indoor and outdoor settings
  • Custom catering and menus for all wedding guests
  • Energetic party lasting until dawn
