The session with the bride and groom

On the stairs of Cais das Colunas with Praça do Comercio in the background, the newlywed couple poses.

The wedding photographer enjoys capturing the session with the bride and groom at the very end of the day, when that warm yet soft light begins to spill over everything the eye can see. Especially those moments before sunset. Not exactly to use the sunset itself, as is quite popular, but rather to use the light that emanates from it, illuminating whom and where I photograph.

  • Those moments just before sunset provide magical, soft lighting — perfect for couples.
  • The goal is not the sun itself, but the golden glow that transforms the surroundings.
  • This light enhances the natural beauty of the couple and is ideal for wedding photography.

But what truly fascinates the wedding photographer is that blend of light, which lasts just a few minutes, after the sun has gone to bed but before it closes its eyes for a good night’s sleep, and the lights that give day to the city of Lisbon begin to shine.

  • The charm lies in that brief moment between day and night — rare and fleeting light.
  • Lisbon offers a unique transition where the sky yields to the city’s lights in perfect harmony.
  • It’s the ideal blend of natural and urban scenery for wedding photos.

The light, trapped inside my camera, as photographs

It’s in those few minutes that I become the photographer I was meant to be. I know time is short, and the light fades quickly. That’s why I’m overtaken by a kind of frenzy I can’t explain — and I’m often surprised to find that the light has indeed been captured inside my cameras, to the delight of those I photograph. This is what being a wedding photographer is all about.

  • Shooting in this fleeting moment demands full presence and passion.
  • The emotion of capturing that light translates into genuine, powerful photos.
  • It’s in this instant that a wedding photographer finds their true calling.

You should know:

I’ve always loved photographing couples as late as possible during golden hour, whether during or after the wedding day. The light offered by a sleepy sun, and what remains of it as it tucks in for a good night’s sleep, always gives me well-dressed photographs, both in vibrant color and in timeless black and white.

  • Golden hour sessions elevate both color and black-and-white photography.
  • The right timing of light can completely change a photo’s aesthetic.
  • The wedding day ends with heartfelt, naturally beautiful images.

Let’s talk

If this kind of light is what you dream of for your memories, let’s talk.
