Wedding photographer: The unique moment that defines your day

Being a wedding photographer is, without a doubt, one of the most exciting and special professions. As a wedding photographer, the responsibility of capturing the most significant moments of such an important day is something unique and truly passionate.
During this type of event, many emotions are involved, and it is a privilege to be there to record every smile, every look, and every gesture of love.
Today, I want to share a real story from a wedding at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria Madalena da Falperra in Braga, where, as a wedding photographer, I had the honor of documenting a day of intense, surprising, and unexpected emotions.
The start of the wedding day: The bride and the first drops of rain

The story begins on a mild October morning in Braga. The sun was shining, and the streets of the city were calm. However, no one could have predicted that, on the wedding day, something unexpected would happen.
As a wedding photographer, my job is not just to capture images, but also to feel the environment and understand the energy that surrounds the couple and all their guests.
On this day, the weather brought a surprise. While Tiago, the groom, was with his friends, already preparing for the big moment, Sónia, the bride, was at the hairdresser’s. It was at that moment that we took the first wedding photos, before heading to the Sanctuary of Santa Maria Madalena da Falperra.
The rain and the bride’s resilience

One of the most exciting things for a wedding photographer is to capture the unexpected reactions, and that’s what happened when the first raindrops began to fall.
As always, there’s something magical about wedding photos, especially when unexpected moments occur, like the rain that appeared out of nowhere.
When the bride was about to leave the car at the church door, the raindrops started to fall heavily. The wind seemed to want to steer her path, but Sónia didn’t let it affect her.
The love and determination of the bride were visible, and as a wedding photographer, it was a moment of pure beauty, which only the images could convey.
The wedding photos: Capturing what matters

The rain seemed to want to keep chasing the couple, but it was the strength of the love between them that prevailed. When they left the church, the sun appeared shyly between the clouds, creating the perfect light for an unforgettable wedding photo session.
The scene was perfect for capturing the essence of that moment: the couple, the guests, and the wedding photographer recording every detail, every smile, every gesture of affection. The rain didn’t stop the joy, and the photos speak for themselves.
Special moments: Being the wedding photographer for a friend

Being the wedding photographer for a friend is always a unique and special experience. In this wedding, the photographer was also a friend of the groom. The relationship between them made the work even more meaningful.
The photographer, in addition to being there to document the event, felt like part of the moment, following every step of the wedding with a unique affection. However, the experience of being both a friend and a photographer at the same time is not simple.
- Being the wedding photographer and at the same time a guest is a situation that can be tricky:
- The commitment to capture all the important moments
- The desire to be part of the celebration and enjoy the party as a guest
- Deciding between being the photographer and the guest was a dilemma that had to be resolved:
- The wedding photographer took control of the situation
- The friend, even being part of the party, had to focus on his work
- Being the photographer at a friend’s wedding brings both benefits and challenges:
- The responsibility of capturing the couple’s love
- The emotion of seeing a friend take such an important step
Other wedding experiences as a photographer

Throughout my career as a wedding photographer, I’ve had the opportunity to be invited to a few weddings. One of these occasions was my friend’s wedding, where I was invited to be part of the celebration, but I was also there to take some photos.
The problem arose right from the start, when, after hearing the first click of my camera, I realized my role had been defined: to be the wedding photographer, not the guest.
This moment marked the difference between being part of the party and being the one responsible for capturing all the moments, as if my presence had turned into a job.
- Being invited to a wedding and not being able to photograph has its peculiar side:
- The anxiety of not having the cameras on hand
- The feeling of not being able to capture special moments
- The difference between being a photographer and being a guest can be felt:
- The role of recording everything that happens
- The desire to interfere, but respecting the work of others

Conclusion: The role of the wedding photographer in the couple’s story
Being a wedding photographer is, above all, a commitment to the couple’s story. My experience at events like this, where emotions mix with the unexpected events of the day, further strengthens the importance of my work.
No matter what happens, wedding photography is there to capture love, happiness, and the most emotional moments.
At the wedding at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria Madalena da Falperra, the rain couldn’t take away the shine of the day. The photos speak for themselves, and the story was told as it should be.
