The joy of photographing a wedding

When my friend Nuno called me on a Friday to ask if I could photograph a friend’s wedding ceremony the next day, my answer was immediate. The following day, I was there.
The meeting point was the magnificent Adega Regional de Colares, where Coisas do Vinho organises events. Initially, the idea was to photograph the ceremony, but the joy of photographing led me almost to the end of the party.
The photographic pleasure on the wedding day

This was one of those weddings I enjoy photographing—half Portuguese, half from another country — in this case, Spain. Needless to say, it was a lively party, fans waving in the air, and my wedding photojournalism side thoroughly enjoyed it.
Fátima and André were incredibly kind, joyful, and deeply connected with their wedding guests. They offered me moments of great photographic pleasure. My thanks to both.
The magic of the wedding ceremony at the Adega Regional de Colares

The Adega Regional de Colares, founded in 1931, stands in a majestic 19th-century building. Located in Colares, in the Sintra region, it is the oldest cooperative winery in Portugal, still processing most of the grapes from the DOC Colares denomination. The main hall, 120 metres long, can host up to 700 seated guests or 800 standing, while the adjacent glass greenhouse holds up to 300 seated guests.
- Wedding photographer in a historic setting with natural light and century-old wine barrels
- Ceremony held in one of the winery spaces or the 2000 m² garden, ideal for a cocktail
- Romantic atmosphere, with a contemporary touch in the greenhouse and historic elegance in the main hall
I photographed every moment: the groom’s entrance, the bride’s reaction, the smiles of the wedding guests, the father’s emotion as he walked his daughter down the aisle. The event was filled with sentiment and authenticity.
Capturing the joy of photographing the wedding day between the groom, the bride, and the guests

This was no ordinary wedding — half Portuguese, half Spanish — and the celebration promised to be long and lively. The atmosphere was electric: fans fluttering, wide smiles, a deep connection between bride Fátima and groom André, and warm interactions among the wedding guests.
- Wedding photography with a photojournalistic approach: natural, emotional, and spontaneous moments
- Candid captures of the groom, the bride, and the guests — dancing, hugs, exchanging vows
- Multicultural atmosphere documented: a Portuguese celebration with festive Spanish rhythm
Fátima and André radiated joy and gentleness, infecting everyone present. The wedding party carried on, and I couldn’t help but follow the flow, capturing magical moments almost to the very end. My wedding photographer instinct felt right at home: eye contact, embraces, and the genuine joy of the guests.
Celebration and joy at the Adega Regional de Colares – a perfect backdrop for photographs

Right after the ceremony, the grand hall filled with music, conversation, and dance. The Adega de Colares merges tradition with modernity — with glass walls in the greenhouse, cane coverings to protect from Atlantic winds, and that unique DOC Colares ambiance. The proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, nestled between the mountains and the sea, gave the photos a special light.
- Wedding party with spontaneous moments: first dances, cake cutting, toasts
- Wedding guests captured in joy, conversation, selfies, and energetic dancing
- Unique setting: live music, intimate vibe in the wine hall, and open-air feeling
Between one toast and the next, I photographed everything — the flying bouquet, the first dance, the bride laughing with her friends, the groom swept up in the party. The surrounding landscape and cosy interior resulted in highly expressive and memorable photographs.
