The Things a Wedding Photographer Does

The transition from August to September reminds the wedding photographer that the season is entering its final phase. However, this doesn’t mean that things slow down in their work. Quite the opposite.
In addition to the weddings that still need to be photographed, there are also photo edits, album layouts, approval meetings, delivery meetings for completed works, sending materials to the lab for printing, visiting the lab to approve album prints before finishing, collecting these completed works for delivery, handling guest orders from those weddings with the respective lab submissions and postal shipments, and… phew, it’s a lot that a wedding photographer does. Oh!… and, still and fortunately, meetings with new clients.
The Couple’s Big Day, Their Wedding Day

However, I don’t know of any photographer who, in the field on a wedding day, doesn’t give their all on the day they’re working at yet another wedding at the beginning of the end of the season. Quite the opposite. Their love for photography and the pleasure of, after the hustle and bustle, delivering the result of their work to the couple, who are no longer just engaged, and seeing them smile from ear to ear, satisfied with what they receive and what will remind them, over time, of their big day, their wedding day.
That’s how I felt when I delivered the album and the rest of the work to Margarida and Filipe, recalling the grand celebration at Quinta da Cascata near Mafra.
The Role of the Wedding Photographer: Behind the Scenes and Emotions

The transition from August to September marks the final stretch of the wedding season for many wedding photographers in Portugal. Although the calendar indicates the end of the high season, the work is far from over. In addition to the still-scheduled photo sessions, there are a series of essential tasks that occupy the time and dedication of these professionals.
The Wedding Day: Capturing Unique Moments

On the big day, the wedding photographer plays a crucial role, capturing each moment with sensitivity and technique. From the bride and groom’s preparations to the ceremony and the party, every instant is recorded to eternalize the emotions experienced.
- Preparations: Photographs of details such as the bride’s dress, the groom’s suit, rings, and other significant elements.
- Ceremony: Recording the entrance of the couple, exchange of vows and rings, and emotional moments among the guests.
- Party: Capturing the first dance, speeches, cake cutting, and guests’ entertainment.
The choice of venue for the ceremony is fundamental. For instance, in Mafra, the Basilica of the National Palace of Mafra stands out for its grandeur and architectural beauty, being a magnificent setting for religious weddings. Its majesty offers a solemn and memorable environment for the couple and guests.
The Celebration at Quinta da Cascata: A Dream Setting

After the ceremony, the celebration continues at Quinta da Cascata, located in Santo Estêvão das Galés, Mafra. This venue is known for its natural surroundings, with lush gardens and a waterfall that provides a romantic and serene atmosphere.
- Spaces: Air-conditioned hall with a capacity for 230 people, gardens, orchard, and parking lot.
- Services: In-house catering, personalized decoration, and a dedicated team to make the event unforgettable.
- Environment: The surrounding nature provides a perfect setting for memorable wedding photographs.
Quinta da Cascata is frequently praised by couples for its beauty and the quality of services provided, being a popular choice for those who desire an elegant and welcoming celebration.
Post-Wedding Work: Dedication and Professionalism

The work of the wedding photographer does not end with the conclusion of the party. There are a series of tasks that require attention and care to ensure that the couple receives a final product of excellence.
- Photo editing: Selection and processing of the best images to reflect the essence of the day.
- Album layout: Creation of layouts that tell the wedding story cohesively and aesthetically.
- Meetings with the couple: Presentation of photographs and album approval.
- Delivery of work: Sending for printing, quality verification, and final delivery to the couple.
Additionally, the photographer also attends to photo requests from guests and continues to hold meetings with future clients, always remaining active and committed to the quality of their work.
Conclusion
Being a wedding photographer is more than capturing images; it’s about telling stories, eternalizing moments, and moving people through photography. Each wedding is unique, and the professional is dedicated to ensuring that every detail is recorded with passion and precision.
