Grooms, brides and the get ready for the wedding day

TALK by THE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER IN SINTRA

In a mirror, the groom, ready for the wedding ceremony, laughs next to the best man, with the flowers in his lapel, captured by the wedding photographer in Sintra, at Quinta do Pé da Serra.

The wedding ceremony

The groom, reflected in a mirror, as he buttons his shirt cuff, in a composition by the wedding photographer in Sintra.

I admit that wedding photographer articles are a little unfair to the groom when it comes to preparing for the whole wedding ceremony. It’s true that for every groom a bride is undergoing a metamorphosis. But that’s not his fault. Nor is it the bride and groom’s fault, who always fulfill their part of the wedding day with care and genuine dedication.

There’s no one to blame, that’s for sure, and the groom can rest assured that it’s not because I think they’re unimportant either.

Translating into wedding photographs

Now… a bride is a bride. And, dear grooms, if you don’t fill the house, the room, wherever you’re going to get ready for the wedding, with your people, you know, those people you call friends who have a natural tendency to make things difficult, to create a big mess to help the wedding photographer get the shot, that whoever can tie the tie better or faster wins, that it takes three to get the groom’s tie right and those dry jokes that only friends know how to say and understand, you don’t stand a chance with the things a bride has to draw attention to and translate into wedding photographs.

All the importance in the world

The groom's son, behind him and out of focus, helps him put on his jacket, and we can see their hands holding it, in a moment captured by the wedding photographer in Sintra.

That’s it. But don’t worry. It’s up to the wedding photographer to know how to choose the best points of view, to take advantage of all the sequences in the process, and to make conversation so that without being noticed he can direct the action a little without letting it be spontaneous, and, even with little help, without a barber on site, without needing time for make-up and if there are one or two mirrors, things will come together in such a way that even the bride will be proud and full of envy for needing so much for the necessary photos.

Well, that’s just the wedding photographer talking in an attempt to make yet another article for his newspaper. Don’t worry, bride or groom, because what matters is that you feel that what you’re doing has all the importance in the world. A self-respecting wedding photographer needs only that.

Dot by dot:

  • The wedding photographer recognizes some unfairness in the photographic treatment of grooms compared to brides.
  • The groom needs to have more friends with them to create fuller photographs because the brides have to do more things to draw attention to themselves.
  • However, the wedding photographer knows how to get around and, once everything is done, you won’t notice any difference between happy brides and grooms in each other’s stories.
